About The Animal Wellness Center

The Animal Wellness Center is part of The Reiki Center located at 1540 W Fifth Ave Columbus, OH. The Reiki Center is Central Ohio's oldest and largest natural wellness center. In addition to in-house services we offer mobile pet services, appear at community events, such as Wagfest, offer lectures at expos, and provide Animal Reiki at shelters and teach classes on Animal Reiki for pet parents, rescue workers, and Reiki practitioners.

Our Practitioners

All services are provided by Animal Wellness Practitioners trained by The Reiki Center under the coordination of Denise Musser and Kaye Smith.

Kaye Smith, director of the Animal Wellness Program, has completed Reiki Master and Animal Reiki training at The Reiki Center. She has 20+ years of pet rescue and dog training experience along with many human and animal volunteers hours through Stone Soup Project, the Center's nonprofit. Kaye has valuable experience using Reiki to find good homes for homeless animals while assisting their people who love them to keep them happily together for life. She shares her life with her husband, their four dogs, and a cat, while fostering dogs until they find their forever home.

Denise Musser is a Reiki Master and Animal Reiki Practitioner through the Center, with many years of volunteer experience as a rescue and animal enrichment practitioner. She specializes in the use of essential oils for pets. Denise has spent many years and countless hours using her Animal Reiki skills at various rescues throughout Central Ohio. She transports homeless dogs from Missouri to rescues along the East Coast. She also enjoys helping her family, friends and co-workers find homes for dogs in need of a new home. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and their four dogs, Max, Layla, Rocky and Simon.

Cassy Richards, CCMT, ESMT, is a Canine/Equine Massage Therapist at the Animal Wellness Center. She is an active volunteer with a local animal rescue group who decided a few years ago that she wanted to help more. In 2016 and 2017, Cassy took Reiki 1, 2, and Animal Reiki at The Reiki Center. Also in 2017, she went to Virginia to study and become certified in equine and canine massage at Equissage International. Since then, Cassy has made it her goal to inform pet owners of the benefits of massage therapy for their family members, whether horse partner or canine companion.

Our mission is to provide an energetic connection between animals and their human companions; to enhance the quality of life for your pet or animal companion through natural wellness; and provide Animal Reiki training for pet parents and animal health and rescue workers.

Our History

The Animal Reiki Center began in 2008 at The Reiki Center as an extension of the services offered to our human clients.  The division continues to grow through private sessions, partnerships with area rescue agencies, visits to wellness fairs in the community, services and classes offered to promote animal health and wellness. In 2016, additional services were offered and the division was renamed to Animal Wellness Center.
